India’s T20 World Cup squad is about to be chosen. It is likely there will not be any big surprises. Virat Kohli is expected to be picked, even though there has been talk about his scoring. Some say he is not scoring fast enough, especially against spin after the Powerplay.
Kohli’s been scoring faster this season. His strike rate is around 150, even over 152 in the Powerplay’s. But for an opener like him, that might not be super ideal. Other players, like Travis Head, are striking even faster, around 216. Still, Kohli’s strike rate has improved even after the first six overs and against spin.
Kohli’s also been consistent. He is still the top scorer (Orange Cap holder) in this season of IPL. So, there is no doubt about him being in the squad. Rohit Sharma, another top player, has also been scoring well, with a strike rate of over 164.

Rishabh Pant might also make a comeback to the international scene. But choosing the second wicketkeeper might be a tough call. It could be between KL Rahul and Sanju Samson. Both have similar stats in this IPL season. Dinesh Karthik is also an option, having shown his readiness to step in if needed.
In the batting department, there are contenders like Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Rinku Singh, along with Rohit, Kohli, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shubman Gill might also get a chance. For bowling, Jasprit Bumrah is a sure pick.
He might be joined by Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh for opening the bowling, with a lookout for another pacer. Kuldeep Yadav could be the main spinner, with support from all-rounders like Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. Hardik Pandya might fill the fast-bowling all-rounder role.

The selectors are being careful with new players like Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma. They might try them out in bilateral series first before considering them for the World Cup squad.
The selection meeting is expected to happen around April 28-29. Captain Rohit Sharma will likely attend, after his match against Delhi Capitals on April 27. The T20 World Cup will be in the US and the West Indies from June 2 to 29.
