IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Ravichandran Ashwin, the seasoned Indian cricketer known for his exceptional spin bowling skills, is set to make a comeback for Team India in the ongoing third Test against England. This exciting news was confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday, putting an end to speculation surrounding Ashwin’s absence from the squad since Day 2 of the Test due to a family emergency.
Ashwin’s temporary withdrawal from the team had left many fans and cricket enthusiasts curious about his return, especially considering his significant contribution to the Indian bowling attack.
However, with the latest announcement from the BCCI, it’s now confirmed that Ashwin will be back in action on Day 4 of the Test, ready to resume his duties and support the team’s cause.
The BCCI released an official statement expressing their pleasure at Ashwin’s return and reaffirming their support for him during the challenging time his family is facing. According to the statement, Ashwin had to rush back home after Day 2 of the Test to attend to a family emergency, necessitating his temporary absence from the squad.

Ashwin’s absence on the field during Day 3 of the Test was noticeable, but the Indian bowlers stepped up to the challenge, delivering an impressive performance.

The veteran off-spinner had achieved a significant milestone on Day 2 of the Test when he reached the historic 500-wicket mark, joining an elite group of Indian bowlers. However, his celebrations were cut short due to the unforeseen family emergency, compelling him to leave the Test abruptly.
In addition to Ashwin’s absence, India faced another setback when Yashasvi Jaiswal, a promising young batsman, had to retire hurt due to back spasms. Nevertheless, Jaiswal participated in practice sessions leading up to Day 4 and is expected to return to the crease at some point during the Indian innings, bolstering India’s batting lineup.
With the series currently level at 1-1 following India’s victory in the previous Test in Visakhapatnam, the Indian team aims to maintain their dominance over the visitors. As they head into Day 4 of the Test with a comprehensive lead of 322 runs, the return of Ravichandran Ashwin provides an additional boost to India’s chances of clinching the series.
