IND vs ENG: Rohit Sharma, admired for his dedication to India’s future, made an inspiring move at 5:30 AM, traveling 150 kilometers from Dharamsala to Bilaspur before the 5th Test against England.
Fresh from attending Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding functions, Rohit Sharma had a busy Wednesday. Instead of heading straight to Dharamsala for the Test match, he flew in a chopper to Bilaspur, where he inaugurated the Khel Mahakumbh.
The Khel Mahakumbh is a vital part of Khelo India, focusing on grassroots sports competitions. It covers various age groups and extends over three months, rewarding athletes with cash prizes. Rohit’s presence, along with head coach Rahul Dravid, was significant.

Anurag Thakur, India’s Sports Minister, appreciated Rohit’s effort, mentioning that he woke up early and traveled from Delhi to attend the event because he believed in the future of Indian sports.
Rohit and Dravid even had a friendly cricket match, entertaining the fans present. Although it wasn’t a rigorous practice session, it served as a pleasant warm-up. Afterward, they returned to Dharamsala to join the team for their first practice session ahead of the final Test.
The Indian team, rejuvenated after a 10-day break, is ready to face England in the last match of the series. With a 3-1 lead already secured, Rohit aims for a comprehensive victory, potentially surpassing last year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy win against Australia.

Ravichandran Ashwin is also in the spotlight as he prepares to play his 100th Test match for India, joining an elite group of players. However, the weather in Dharamsala could pose a challenge, with temperatures expected to drop and rain likely to interrupt play.
Nevertheless, the HPCA Stadium is eager to showcase its capabilities after last year’s setbacks. Having hosted World Cup matches and recent Ranji Trophy games, the stadium is prepared for the ultimate showdown. The lush green outfield adds to the anticipation, promising an exciting conclusion to the series.
