After the heartbreak of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, the Indian cricket team will next be seen in action in a full tour of the West Indies. India vs West Indies (IND vs WI) series aren’t always the most exciting matches due to the sheer disparity of quality between the two sides, but it will nevertheless be a key series for the Men in Blue.

Not only will the Indian team be starting the 2023-25 WTC cycle with this tour, there is also an ODI and T20I series in what will be India’s last full tour before the Asia Cup.

In this article, we will take a look at everything you need to know about the IND vs WI tour.

IND vs WI Series 2023 formats and matches

The India vs West Indies series will see the Men in Blue collide with the Men in Maroon in all three formats, which is the first full tour India have done of the Caribbean in a long time.

India will begin the tour with two Tests, both of which will count in the World Test Championship cycle. Thereafter they will be playing 3 ODIs.

The ODIs will, ironically, be irrelevant for India’s prep for the World Cup. Yes, playing a few games in the format will ensure their match sharpness.

However, West Indies’ failure to qualify for the ODI World Cup means that India will, in essence, be playing against much weaker opposition.

The tour ends with a blockbuster five-match T20I series, after which India will take a little time off and prepare for both the Asia Cup as well as a three-match T20I series in Ireland.
