Shoaib Malik has been facing a wave of criticism on social media following his third marriage to Sana Javed. The situation took a turn for the worse on Friday, January 26, as his Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) contract with Fortune Barishal was abruptly terminated.
In an unexpected twist during the BPL 2024, Shoaib Malik, the Pakistani cricketer’s contract has been terminated by Fortune Barishal due to suspicions of ‘fixing.’
This decision came after a concerning incident in a recent match where Malik bowled three no balls in a single over, raising suspicions among fans.
The incident occurred during the January 22 match between Barishal, Malik’s team, and Khulna Tigers. In the fourth over of the innings, Malik overstepped on three occasions, resulting in three no balls.

This unusual performance triggered doubts about Malik’s intentions, with many speculating that the no balls were deliberately bowled, hinting at possible fixing.
Until the fifth ball of the over, Malik had bowled only one no ball for overstepping. However, the last ball saw two consecutive no balls for crossing the crease. Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal was visibly shocked, and despite Malik conceding 18 runs in the over, he was not given another chance to bowl.
Fortune Barisal officially terminated Shoaib Malik’s contract on suspicion of “fixing,” as confirmed by Mizanur Rahman, the team owner. A tweet by Syed Sami (@MrSyedSami) on January 26 broke the news, highlighting Malik’s three no-balls in a single over and the subsequent contract termination.
The termination has stirred discussions in the Bangladesh media, reporting that Malik had already left Bangladesh for personal reasons. While there is no official confirmation from the franchise regarding the contract termination, local journalists suggest that the beleaguered Pakistani player has been suspended.
Shoaib Malik, with an extensive cricket career, has represented Pakistan in 35 Tests, 287 ODIs, and 124 T20Is. His last appearance for Pakistan was in November 2021 in a T20I match against Bangladesh.
As the cricket community grapples with the shocking turn of events, Malik’s future in the sport remains uncertain.
