Ravindra Jadeja Ignores Coaches & Teammates During Training, Will He Play in the 5th Test Against England?

Ravindra Jadeja, ahead of the India vs England 5th Test, spent extended periods batting in the nets in Dharamsala, despite requests from coaches and teammates to wrap up.

He’s a unique player in India’s Test squad, valued for his skills as both a batter and a bowler, and even as a fielder. Jadeja’s iconic moustache and celebratory sword gestures make him a fan favorite.

Despite not often making headlines before a Test, Jadeja’s absence is more feared than his presence celebrated. This seems to suit him well, given his packed schedule. With Virat Kohli and KL Rahul absent, he’s India’s No. 5 batter in the ongoing series against England.

While focus rightly centers on his spin-bowling partner Ashwin, set for his 100th Test, Jadeja knows he must perform across all aspects of the game for India to succeed.

During practice at HPCA Stadium, Jadeja spent considerable time batting in the nets, ignoring calls to wrap up from coaches and teammates. He simply wanted “a few more balls” and kept batting. His dedication to batting is evident, reminiscent of a specialist batsman.

Jadeja’s performance in the ongoing series showcases his prowess with the bat. Despite missing a match due to injury, he’s scored over 200 runs in less than six innings, averaging an impressive 43.4. He’s among the few batters averaging over 40 in the series, highlighting his consistency.

His century in the third Test was crucial for India, helping them post a substantial total despite a shaky start. Not just a batsman, Jadeja excels as a bowler too. In the same Test, he claimed seven wickets, earning him the Player of the Match award. With 17 wickets, he shares the title of India’s highest wicket-taker with Jasprit Bumrah.

Jadeja’s commitment to both batting and bowling makes him a vital asset for India. Despite his unconventional approach to practice, his performances speak volumes about his skill and determination. As India aims for victory in the 5th Test, Jadeja’s contributions with both bat and ball will be crucial in securing success.
