Positive news for Indian Premier League (IPL) fans! The tournament expanded to 10 teams, will kick off on March 22, 2024. Confirmed by IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, this announcement brings joy to cricket enthusiasts across the nation.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) supporters have an added reason to celebrate. The defending champions will play the opening match at their home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. This sets the stage for a thrilling start to the season.
Fans eagerly anticipate the return of MS Dhoni, a beloved figure in Indian cricket. Dhoni, representing the Yellow Army, will grace the IPL arena once more, making this edition even more special.

Chairman Arun Dhumal shared insights with Sportstar, confirming the extravaganza’s commencement in late March. The tournament’s opening fixture will feature CSK, adding to the excitement for fans.
“The plan is to start the tournament on March 22 in Chennai. We are monitoring the situation closely and will adjust the schedule accordingly, especially considering the upcoming general elections,” stated Dhumal.
The complete schedule will be unveiled shortly. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awaits the polling dates for General Elections 2024, which will be provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Reports suggest the schedule will be released in two parts. Initially, the first fortnight’s fixtures will be disclosed, followed by the remaining matches once the ECI announces the election dates.
Furthermore, following the inaugural match on March 22nd, the subsequent two days, March 23rd and 24th, will feature double-headers, a format familiar to fans from previous seasons.
