India vs England 3rd Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal delivered an outstanding performance, scoring an impressive 104 runs during Day 3 of the Rajkot Test against England. He achieved his century milestone in just 122 balls, showcasing remarkable batting abilities.
Initially starting off cautiously, Jaiswal accelerated his scoring rate notably after the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, reaching the 100-run mark in a mere 42 deliveries.
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, renowned for his aggressive style of play, took to his official social media account to extend his congratulations to Yashasvi Jaiswal for his exceptional innings. Known for his candid opinions, Sehwag’s praise for Jaiswal’s batting mirrored his own fearless approach during his playing days.

During the second innings, England heavily relied on spin bowlers, with the trio of Tom Hartley, Rehan Ahmed, and Joe Root accounting for the majority of overs bowled, totaling 37 out of 51. Despite this strategy, Jaiswal tackled the spinners with remarkable ease on his way to achieving his century.
Sehwag’s social media post reflected this sentiment, stating, “Back-to-back centuries for Yashasvi Jaiswal. Treating spinners the way they should be treated.”
Sehwag’s aggressive stance against spin bowling has been well-documented throughout his career, and he has continued to advocate for maintaining an attacking mindset against spinners even after retirement.
Recalling a conversation with Sehwag in 2017, Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s premier off-spinner, revealed Sehwag’s bold assertion that he did not consider off-spinners as formidable bowlers, expressing his confidence in smashing them easily.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal continued to impress in his debut series at home, amassing a total of 104 runs from 133 deliveries before being compelled to retire hurt due to back spasms. Despite his premature exit, Jaiswal’s innings significantly bolstered India’s lead to 322 runs by the conclusion of Day 3.
With Jaiswal’s absence from the playing XI, India currently finds themselves with only ten players. As Ravichandran Ashwin set to return, initially he had left the squad due to a family emergency. However, the 22-year-old batsman retains the possibility of returning to the crease if required later in the match.
