IND sv ENG 3rd Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal, a young cricketer, recently stunned everyone with his fantastic performance on the cricket field. His remarkable innings of 209 runs during the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam made headlines.

However, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag didn’t quite agree with these comparisons. He felt it was too early to label Yashasvi as the next Bradman or Tendulkar. Sehwag acknowledged Yashasvi’s talent but cautioned against premature comparisons.

Another former Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir, shared similar views. He congratulated Yashasvi on his double century but warned against overhyping young players. Gambhir stressed the importance of allowing players to develop naturally without putting unnecessary pressure on them.
Yashasvi’s journey in the ongoing Test series against England has been quite impressive. In the first Test in Hyderabad, he came close to scoring a century but fell short at 80 runs. Despite facing criticism for his aggressive style of play, Yashasvi remained undeterred.
In the second Test, he continued to play his natural game, even as wickets fell at regular intervals on the other end. His maturity and determination shone through as he single-handedly took on the England bowlers to score his magnificent 209 runs.

Sehwag, in a virtual interaction from Dubai, expressed his reservations about the comparisons being made. He believed that while Yashasvi was indeed a talented batsman, it was premature to liken him to cricketing legends like Bradman and Tendulkar. Sehwag’s sentiments echoed those of Gambhir, who emphasized the need to let young players grow and enjoy their cricket without the burden of unrealistic expectations.
Both Sehwag and Gambhir highlighted the tendency in the Indian media to excessively praise young talents. They cautioned against this practice, as it could negatively impact the performance of the players. Instead, they advocated for patience and a balanced approach in nurturing young talent.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s incredible performance against England earned him comparisons with cricketing greats, but former players like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir urged caution and patience in evaluating young talent.
