The prize pool for the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be held in India, will be USD 10 million (about INR 84 crore). The winners of the prestigious competition will receive USD 4 million (about INR 33 crore) from the above-mentioned prize pool.
Meanwhile, the runners-up will receive USD 2 million (approx. INR 16.5 crore). The tournament begins on October 5 in Ahmedabad, with previous finalists England and New Zealand facing each other. India will begin their campaign versus Australia on August 8th.
During the Group Stage, each of the 10 competing teams will compete once in a round-robin format. The overall top four teams in the standings will compete in the semi-finals. Furthermore, teams will be able to receive prize money for their victories in Group Stage games, with each win worth USD 40,000 (approx. INR 33 lakh). If a team does not advance to the knockout stage, they will still be awarded USD 100,000 (INR 8.4 lakh).

“The prize money also sets the precedent for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2025, with the ICC announcing equal sums for both men’s and women’s events during the Annual Conference held in Durban, South Africa in July 2023,” the ICC stated in a statement.
Before the competition begins, all ten teams will compete in warm-up matches beginning September 29. India will face England and the Netherlands in two matches. While the top eight teams in the ODI Super League had won automatic qualifying for the World Cup, two countries – Sri Lanka and the Netherlands – clinched their places earlier this year through qualifiers.

The Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held in India, would provide an excellent opportunity for the Indian cricket team to end its decade-long drought of winning an ICC trophy. Last ICC trophy won by India was in 2013, which was the Champions Trophy 2013.
The Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, is currently playing a three-match One-Day International series against Australia.
The ICC on August 20th released the official anthem of the ICC World Cup 2023. The anthem, titled ‘Dil Jashn Bole,’ stars Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh as well as Dhanashree Verma, the wife of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. Pritam composed the music, and Shloke Lal and Saaveri Verma wrote the lyrics.
