The success of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which was founded in 2008, has led to many spin-off leagues to form in different states. One of those leagues is the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL), whose aim is to showcase players from the state in a league that is conducted similarly to the IPL.

And indeed, the MPL 2023 will boast a number of star players turning out for the sides that will be battling to be crowned as the champions of Maharashtra.

The MPL isn’t one of the more successful state-based franchise leagues in the country – that honour would go to the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) and the Karnataka Premier League (KPL).

However, the state of Maharashtra has an abundance of cricketing talent and such a platform will doubtless help many of them – both in terms of playing opportunities as well as financially.

In this article, we are going to take a look at everything related to the MPL – the teams, dates, full squads, schedule and the likes.

Maharashtra Premier League dates

The Maharashtra Premier League will take place from June 15 and the final will be held on June 29, meaning a two-week window for the league to get all of the games done with.

A total of 19 matches will be played including the playoffs as well as the final. Matches will be held at two timings – 2 PM IST and 8 PM IST, with the double header matchdays limited to the weekends.
