In 2023, something big happened for Team India, Jasprit Bumrah made a strong comeback. He’d been away for more than 11 months because of a back injury. But when he returned, it was amazing. He led India in the T20I series against Ireland. And guess what? He played a big role in India winning the eighth Asia Cup and reaching the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
Dinesh Karthik talked about this in an interview with Cricbuzz. He said Jasprit Bumrah’s return was super important. Jasprit Bumrah did so well, taking 36 wickets in 20 matches in different types of cricket in 2023.
Karthik also mentioned other players who did great things. He talked about Virat Kohli, who came back strong in all formats. He praised Rohit Sharma for his amazing batting in the World Cup and for being a fantastic leader. And he didn’t forget KL Rahul, who not only did well as a batsman but also as a wicketkeeper when he came back to the international scene.

Looking back at how India played in 2023, Karthik had good things to say. He felt the team did exceptionally well overall, except in the big finals. India lost the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup finals to Australia. But Karthik was still happy with how India played in the other matches throughout the year.
He said, “2023 was a year of fantastic cricket from Team India. We did really well in most matches against other teams, just like always. The 50-over World Cup in India was a special memory. We played great cricket, except on the final day. Sadly, Australia did better than us on that day.”
It was a mix of highs and lows for India in 2023. But the comeback of players like Jasprit Bumrah, Kohli, Sharma, and Rahul gave fans lots to cheer about. India might have missed a few big trophies, but their overall performance made everyone proud.
